The Tennessee Career Center honored our country's veterans in a special way on Friday. The Center on Carriage House Drive held an open house to mark "Hire Vets First" Month. State Labor Commissioner James Neeley said Friday's job fair in Jackson and at other locations across the state are designed to help veterans and military personnel transition back to civilian life when their tours of duty ends. Mark Chandler with the Jackson office of the Tennessee Career Center said, "Beyond the aspect of the law, I think it's just incumbent that we recognize them for their service and sacrifice to the country." The Tennessee Career Centers have a veterans staff which provides one-on-one services in matching employer needs with veterans' skills.
